Social Studies
This year we will be using IMPACT Social Studies! IMPACT is a product of McGraw Hill, just like Everyday Math and Wonders.
IMPACT Social Studies teaches the art and strategy of inquiry as teachers model how to ask questions and do research. Students learn how to analyze sources and consider multiple perspectives as they think critically about problems, events, places, and people. Another primary goal is to prepare students to become active citizens—both locally and globally—in an ever-changing world. Throughout the curriculum, students are given opportunities to learn about and apply good citizenship practices. The texts and activities focus on developing civic values and democratic principles as students build an understanding of their role in the community, the nation, and the world. |
We will be covering parts of the following chapters:
Chapter 1: The Land and the People of the United States Chapter 2: The Northeast Chapter 3: The Southeast Chapter 4: The Midwest Chapter 5: The Southwest Chapter 6: The West |
The website Seterra.com has a lot of great resources to learn more about the geography of the United States. Click HERE to get started. At the bottom of the page is the option to practice other geographic skills as well.
